What Are You Eating?

Have you ever heard the saying you are what you eat? So if this is true of our physical body, how much more for our Spiritual one? The Bible talks about the fact that we are spiritual beings. A soul that will live forever!

I think in today’s culture, a quick fix to eat is fast food with convenience. The world offers us smorgasbords to eat both spiritually and physically. We put things into our bodies that aren’t necessarily good nourishment. O, how far we’ve come from the purest of food that came from the Garden of Eden. There’s one thing that I really started to realize for myself when I started to walk my journey with God in regards to being a food addict. I found how powerful food really is and what an idol it truly is in people’s lives. I mean, hello, the 1st sin was don’t eat this, and she ate it. I started to search for myself about what it means to get true healing from food, so it’s my good medicine, not my poison. So now I turn to God, not food. Now you personally may not struggle with food, and if so, go you, but the reality is you struggle with something. How do I know this? Because the Bible says’ for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” So I started this quest to figure out how to stop turning to everything under the Sun and turn to God for everything.

In the Bible, a woman for 12 years, had a very severe issue of blood, and she tried everything. I mean, she spent all kinds of money and got no relief, and if anything, she grew worse. Then one day, it changed for her. One day she heard about Jesus. She heard the good news! This good news was Jesus was coming through her town and that he could heal the sick, make the blind see, cause the lame to walk, raise the dead, and cast out demons, and she thought to herself just for one moment, what if I could just touch the master? What if Jesus really is the answer to what I’ve dealt with my entire life. I personally don’t know this woman, and I don’t know her story, and I don’t know how she got to the point where she was so desperate that she would try anything., but I do understand her heart. I know how shameful it is to be a woman who’s overweight and to think that the whole world is just looking at you to see your shame. See, unlike porn or even drugs, this sinful addiction or sinful behavior, everyone can see the effects of it.

So it says you are what you eat. The Lord revealed to me it was a heart condition, a deep-seated heart condition of trust in who he is. Because he is still healing, he still can come into my situation and change it. I was praying out about this. Maybe you are like me, you’ve tried this, and you’ve tried and have gotten to that point in your life where you feel like no matter what, you can’t be set free. It feels like no matter how hard you try, you feel like a failure. As I cried out, Son of David, have mercy on me. I felt him say Matthew 11:28-30: ²⁸“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. ²⁹Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. ³⁰For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Do you have an area of your life that you’re just weary; that you’re desperate? Are you ready for a change? Please don’t miss what happens next! I’m going to share with you the truth that the Lord revealed to me.

As I was standing in my kitchen one day, I started to cry out; I had been studying about faith. I’d been studying about healing, and I started questioning God about this. I started asking, can I have that? Is this for me? Can I have what these people had from their father? I know that you are a healing God. I’ve seen you do miraculous things, but this is one area of my life where I’ve kept trying to do it my way, and I keep falling drastically short. So I started to cry out just like the blind man in the Bible “Son of David have mercy on me! Son of David have mercy on me,” show me Father in your word. Over a 3 week period of time, I continued to have the same story come up with the woman with the issue of blood in how she didn’t care about the risk. She didn’t care what anyone thought of her. She just knew she had to get to Jesus, and if she could but get to him, then she would be healed, and God revealed to me that it was her faith that healed her.

After about the 3rd time of having this story come up, the tears started to roll down my face. Has anything ever happened to you where it feels like the person who’s speaking is speaking directly to your soul? It’s almost like a magnifying glass is being pointed to the deepest part of your wound in your heart. That’s God!  He sees you, he knows, and he doesn’t want you to stay in bondage any more than he wants me to. NO, he wants us to hear the good news of Jesus and believe that Jesus really is who he said that he is. Jesus said I am the bread of life.

See, the Bible says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. See, I’m sick of trying to do it the world’s way! I want Jesus’ to help me! I cannot do this on my own. I got to a point where I humbled myself, and I confessed that I had sinned and tried to do this all on my own. Another story flashed before my heart. It is a story of a woman who is desperate for her daughter to be healed. Jesus seems like he’s cruel to her, he says that he comes for his people and that she’s, but a dog and she says this key thing in this encounter that jumped into my soul. “but even the dogs are allowed to eat the crumbs from the master’s table” and he’s so amazed by her that he heals her daughter. My heart just leaped inside my chest, and maybe you need to hear this too! See, if you’ve believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and your saved, your not an outsider. You’re an insider. You are a child now of the most high God, and we don’t have to sit under-the-table like a dog waiting for crumbs. No, the Bible says he prepares a table before our enemies.

Our enemy is Satan, and the demons and things like sickness and disease are trying to oppress you. As he breathed life into my soul, a scripture came that I’d never heard before. I had to go and look for it, and it said healing is the children’s bread. So I went looking for it. Mark 7:27 “But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not right to take the children’s bread and to cast it unto the dogs.” The scripture shares here that healing is the children’s bread. Jesus spoke to a gentile woman or non-Jew woman who came to Jesus because her child was sick, and she needed to receive healing.

Well, if healing is the children’s bread, and I’m a child of God, then healing is my bread. I realized very quickly that he took bread, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and he said take eat do this and remembrance of me, and then more scripture started to pour into my soul that said by his wounds we are healed.  At that moment, I knew I needed the laying on of hands but not by anyone. I needed the laying on of hands from somebody who was more anointed than myself who believed in the power of Jesus’s name who believe that he came to set the captives free, that he was still very much alive and by the power of the Holy Spirit. Yes, even in the church in 2020, he’s still doing miraculous signs and wonders and if we would but believe in faith. So with everything in the natural screaming NO! I took a step of faith, and I went somewhere that believes in that healing. I ran for the anointing just like the women with the issue of blood.

To tell you everything that was spoken to me when I went to the master that day, I’m not even sure you’re physically capable of putting that into words. Now what I can tell you is that God loves you, and he’s always willing, but you’ve gotta eat the bread! Feed on the word daily. You’ve got to believe he is who he says that he is. We all have to stop filling our spiritual bodies with garbage to get the healing and the transformation that he wants to give us. We’ve gotta get to a point where you’re so desperate that you realize there’s no other choice but Jesus. At that point, shifting takes place in your soul where instead of you getting desperate that there’s no one else but Jesus, you realize it is an honor and a privilege to go to your Father with all your request, all of your cares, and realized that greater is he that is in you than he who is in the world.

We don’t have to live in darkness anymore. We don’t have to let the oppression of sin or demonic stronghold bring death to your life. Whom the Son sets free is free, and deed is not just something that’s cliche, but it’s real, but what are you eating?

If God lives inside of me. I’ve got to take care of God’s temple. It’s no different than when Nehemiah was called to rebuild the wall. Or how about when David when he felt called to build a house of worship for God. My earthy body is a temple. I am that house of praise! See, I am the watchmen who take care of this body to ensure the enemy is not afflicting it by sickness and disease or infirmities. Now it is my job to feed this body good earthly nutrition and manna from heaven. What is this mana well is as Matthew 6:11 says, “Give us today our daily bread.”

This is God’s word. Have you ever not just asked God to bless your food for your body’s use but to ask him what I should or should not be eating. I started to realize that’s what he meant when he said give us our day our daily bread, both the word and the provision of food for the temple. How important it truly is to ask him every day to forgive you and me for our sins so that we don’t have a weak part in your wall or a stronghold where the enemy can infiltrate this temple. I have heard this very famous saying several times that says, “what you put in is what comes out.” God’s words say from the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. I have started to realize it’s about the inner heart. God’s word hidden in my heart; there is power in the words we speak. See, life and death are in the power of the tongue.

I decided that I will feast at the master’s table and believe I am who I am because God tells me who I am. That I will keep pressing on my daily manna filling myself with truth and renewing my mind! I, too, can overcome this because of who’s inside of me. Even Jesus said in Matthew 4:4 “Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'”

If the Word was God, and the Word is God, and the Word is Jesus. Then the answer is truly always Jesus. He is the way he is the truth. He is the life, and no one gets to get to the Father except through Him. Now once you have Him, we’ve got to realize it’s not just (Hey, I’m saved, and I get to go to heaven) NO He died so we could set the captives free in His name. We are not created to constantly be crying out, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” His desire is for us to be set free full of His power so that we can bring the breakthrough to others!
