Part 2 – Doubt
The second D that the Devil likes to dish out is Doubt. Do you ever doubt yourself? You know what I’m talking about; it’s that sudden feeling of impending doom or dread that takes over. It’s the silent thief that stops you dead in your tracks. It’s what holds you back from completing many things in life. It’s the voices in your head that tell you that you are not good enough, strong enough, pretty, or handsome enough. The list could go on and on. Doubt is one of the Devil’s most cunning lies, and his lies can hold us back from God’s purpose and plans for our lives. But there is hope, and there is help, and his name is Jesus. John 8:12 Again, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life”. No matter what you face in life, hope is always in Jesus.
You see, my friends, we all have authority and the power given to us by Jesus Christ. There’s power in Jesus’s mighty name. There’s power in the blood of the Lamb. Don’t be afraid to call out to Jesus. Call out his name, knowing that he is listening. He loves you, and he wants to help you. When you doubt your inheritance lean into Jesus. Remember the written words and their promises. The Devil is the Father of lies. Jesus is the prince of peace, hope, truth, and love. The Devil wants us to give in to doubt and fear. He wants us to be captive to our thoughts. He wants our thoughts to consume us and take over. He wants us to forget God’s word and what He says about who we are. We have been chosen and appointed. Everything will work out for good according to his purpose. Why? It’s because he loves us all very much.
Every day I wake up hearing the Spirit speak to me. I hear that still small voice. Each day I desire to do things that will give Him glory. Still, if I’m being honest, every day, I struggle. I doubt myself. The world around me doesn’t always treat me the way I think it should. I crave love and support from friends and family, but sometimes that love and support aren’t there. The ones who should support me fight against me. I feel so much hurt, pain and sadness. You see the Devil dishes out his D’s daily. He wants to destroy what God made for good. He wants us to give in to him and drift further and further away from God. Still, I know God is with me. I am not alone, even when I feel so alone—you are not alone either, dear ones. Please don’t ever forget that.
The thing I have to remember is that my disregard of God’s word, no matter how much or how little, is sin. Disregarding in any shape or form is sin. No matter how I try and get around it or talk myself out of it. It’s still sin. Forgive me, Father, for my sins. I know that I’m am a child of God. You are a child of God, too, dear readers. We are all meant for greatness and meant for victory. Yes, I struggle with sin. I doubt myself. But my God believes in me, and he believes in you. He is proud and glad that we were born. He’s proud of who I am, and he’s proud of who you are.
What hurts my heart is that the Devil tries to destroy me each day. Still, I have a choice, and I choose to stand on His words. What about you? Do you prefer to live and not die to sin? Will you declare the works of the Lord forever? The Lord is good, and His mercy endures forever. The Lord is for me, and He will NEVER leave me or forsake me just like he won’t ever go or forsake you. He is fighting my battles for me. I have to keep fighting the good fight of faith. You have to fight the good fight of faith to my friends. God will work it all out for good. He loves you.
As believers, we must get a grip on our doubting. We can’t keep letting doubt consume and take over us. We know the truth. We know what God’s word says. Dealing with doubt takes hold of the lies and regards God’s word as truth. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. But do you believe it, and are you ready to receive it? You know the truth. Now it’s time to let that faith rise inside of you as you study God’s word more each day. Do not doubt what God wants to do for you. Sure his will for you might not always make sense to you. Choose to trust him anyway. Trust him through your confusion and uncertainty. Trust that even though you don’t have the answers, he does. In Jesus’ name, you are worthy. Believe that he does love you. He does have a plan and purpose for your life. Trust the truths that are found in God’s word. Stop questioning your salvation and your walk! Stop questioning what God has to say about you, your life, your family, and where He wants to bring you.
Father God, doubt is no joke. It holds us back from hope, joy, love, and so many beautiful things you have to offer us. Please help us stand firmly rooted in our faith. Please help us stay firmly rooted in you. Help us say enough! No more Devil! Game over, Devil! Only God is in control of my life. Your bags are now packed, Devil. It’s time for you to hit the road. Today is a new day, and I’m done with doubting. I’m not going to eat that dish from you anymore!
